Frugal Living

What do you do to live frugaly besides couponing? I cloth diaper my son to save from having to buy diapers. I make his wipies to save from having to buy them. Instead of renting movies every week, we subsribe to Netflix and only pay $7.99 a month to watch all the movies we want. When we do go out to see a movie, we try to go to matinees (before 6pm) so the prices are cheaper. There are so many ways to save money. In this section of the blog, I will devote a few pages to some of the ways that play the biggest part in my life to helping me live frugal! :)

Instead of cable, we use netflix’s instant qeue

I didn’t even think of doing that! :) We use Netflix for movies, and we still pay for cable. But now that I think about it, I can’t remember the last time we watched actual TV. Lol. We’ve just been watching movies and all the tv shows they have on Netflix. I’ll have to talk to my husband later on about maybe dropping the cable. :)

  2. Chris says:

Also, instead of cable, you can subscribe to Hulu Plus for like 8 dollars a month, and watch most TV shows there! (Granted, they are available 1 week after they show on TV), but cable is so expensive.

  3. Brooke says:

Buying furniture from resale shops instead of brand new! Definitely saves money and you can find many many good deals on furniture that looks brand new!

  4. Stacy says:

I’ve noticed more and more people are getting rid of their home phone to save money, this scares me because they usualIy dont know that dialing 911 on your cell will get you highway patrol. Which will be no help if your house is on fire. I personally have my home phone with my cable company cause they dont charge all those fees for phone service. I am a coupon clipper as well as a freebie fanatic. I hate to pay full price.

how do u make your own wipes? i would love to know!

    • Clever Coupon Cents says:

I bought a couple cheap cloth diapers on eBay before I really knew what to look for in cloth diapers. Once my son got here, I realized they weren’t going to work for him, so I took the inserts from the diapers, cut the edges off of them, and then cut the insert in half. There were 3 layers to the insert, so I ended up with 6 wipes from the one insert. :)

  6. Stephanie says:

We disconected the cable, bought a 30 dollar antenna, Have netflix, but also a 30 dollar package threw blockbusters, we rent 2 of anything including video games all month long. Has saved me thousands in buying video games and renting movies as well as paying that blasted cable bill

  7. Nikki Cassel says:

We turned off our cable. We only use one AC during the summer, when we’re in the living room and other rooms we use just the living room one, then we turned that off and turn the one in the bedroom on at night. Same thing for heating. We only go to necessary places to save gas, sometimes we walk if it’s short enough.
